Hendrik Jonas paints his animals in a mutual process of perfectionism and destruction. The aim is not the visual depiction of his objects but to detach them from their natural habitat,  transforming their essence.   They appear peculiarly lost and displaced, the central theme in Jonas' work.

Henrik Jonas studied Communication Design and and Illustration in Augsburg and Barcelona. He works as an illustrator, children's book author and painter in a studio in Berlin, Neukolln. His favorite motifs are people and birds. His Children's books are translated into English, Dutch, Greek, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese and Norwegian. His paintings are acrylic on wood or canvas.
