Hendrik Jonas
Born in Birkenfeld/Germany, Hendrik Jonas grew up in Bavaria.
He studied graphic design and Illustration in Augsburg and Barcelona.
After his graduation he moved to Berlin and started working as an illustrator. At first for an Atlas of the human anatomy, which took more than two years. Later for a number of newspapers and magazines.
From 1999 till 2003 Jonas lived in Edinburgh, where he worked for The Guardian‘s comment&analysis page and had numerous exhibitions, both group and solo shows of his paintings and dry point etchings.
Shortly after his return to Germany Jonas published his first childrens book, worked as a painter, theatre and opera stage designer and illustrator for many national and international publishers.
Today he mainly works as a childrens book author and illustrator. His books have been translated into many languages and appear a.o. in France, Greece, Norway, South Korea, Japan, the U.S. and Brasil.
Hendrik Jonas lives in Berlin.
