Tif (Christopher) Eccles was born in East Africa and educated in Scotland and at Trinity College, Dublin, where he studied English Literature and Russian Language.
In 1985, he travelled to Moscow to study at the Pushkin Institute.
In 1992, he and his young family moved back to Scotland where he studied for M. Lit, in Russian Studies at the University of St Andrews. They returned to Ireland 6 years later.
In 2018 he completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Limerick.
In August 2018 he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent 6 months of treatment at University Hospital Limerick and St James Hospital Dublin.
He wrote a one act play A Fishpond All on Fire, performed at the Bewley's Cafe Theatre in Dublin.
He has two sons, Vanya and Turlough, from his first marriage.
He lives with his wife Colette and her family in East Clare, Ireland.
